hello, I’m Catriona Byers.

I’m a writer, photographer and historian.

My research broadly focuses on the dark sides of urban life and modern society; I explore themes such as death, policing, medicine, crime and poverty from the nineteenth-century to the present day.

I’m currently completing a PhD at King’s College London on the nineteenth-century morgues of Paris and New York. Alongside this I moonlight as a food photographer and stylist, among other things.
